Opportunities Landscape & Methodology

We believe that the most fundamental way of identifying Opportunities is by virtue of “The 3Ms.” These being Mura, Muri & Muda. These are Japanese terms that stand for Un-evenness or variability, Overburden or Under-capacity and Wastes, respectively.

Organizational Structure

A Group Center for Operational Excellence structure was created to identify, exploit, and translate the opportunity landscape into viable improvement initiatives under the umbrella of Business Excellence Framework. The structure provides Centralized Governance and drives Institutionalization of OE leveraging Digital Transformation.

Operational Excellence Framework – An Introduction

The OE Framework is an Agile, Scalable, Holistic yet Flexible Model with a capability to Balance, Integrate and Assimilate all existing and any future initiatives under One Umbrella including Digital Interventions. This encompasses the Strengths of tried and tested International Excellence Frameworks with high internalization & contextualization in totality. The individual elements of The Framework will enable seamless delivery of Business Objectives with a strong linkage to robust Business Processes.

Dr. Parthasarathy Sampathkumar (Parth) has over 25+ years’ experience with roles held in Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Digitalization and Operational Excellence (OE). He has managed global, multicultural, multifunctional teams and is a strategic thinker. Parth is a self-directed individual and has strong ability in making decisions and problem-solving.

Parth joined Biocon Biologics in 2018 as Global Head of QC, where, he was instrumental in transforming, and successfully instilling a Quality mindset. He Co-Chaired the Quality Mission Force to cut across functions and ensure global inspection readiness. In 2020, he took on a role as Head, Global Quality Strategy, Performance and Transformation, serving as Chief of Staff for QLT, and driving best-in-class performance level. In 2021, Parth moved on to a Group role as Head, CoE for Quality Systems and OE, where he led integration of Digital Quality System initiatives, and utilization of Lean-Six-Sigma (LSS) approach.

In 2023, Parth took on an expanded role as Head, Group Center for Operational Excellence (COE), as a Cultural transformation undertaking directly reporting to Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. In this role, Parth drives centralized governance and collaboration between Biocon Limited, Biocon Biologics, and Syngene to facilitate deployment of Business Excellence Framework, encompassing methodologies such as 5S, TPM, Kaizen, and LSS.

With an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, he worked previously with Roche-Genentech and Coherus. In his spare time, he manages his home garden and performs Carnatic vocal concerts.

Followed by Sara Jane Bresee, Managing Director of APAC at MasterControl

As Managing Director of APAC, Sara is charged with increasing awareness and market share in China, India and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, she is responsible for MasterControl’s channel partner program worldwide. Her mission is to ensure MasterControl’s Life Sciences customers in the region are successful and well-supported during their digital transformation from paper-based manufacturing environments to digital ones.

During her time as EVP of Marketing and Channel, Sara rebranded and repositioned MasterControl. Her work strengthened MC’s digital demand generation foundations to enable double-digit growth. In her last role as Chief Marketing Officer for Morpho Detection, a subsidiary of the French conglomerate Safran, she architected the brand make-over and introduced growth marketing for this security manufacturer.

Sara brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise sales and marketing. Sara worked for several valuable brands including Intel Corporation, Microsoft, McCann-Erickson, FranklinCovey, and Ford Motor Company. Sara is a Chicago native, a Michigan State University alumna, relocated her family and their cat to Singapore in October 2022. She makes a great charcuterie plate.
